~ ~ * My Friend, Phyzzl * ~ ~

Isn't it amazing
how God chooses to touch our lives
in such loving and diverse ways?
Could we ever imagine
a more personalized plan for ourselves
than the one He gives us?

My life has been filled
with such a variety of friends.
I have taken in younger friends in high school,
introducing them to "just the right people."
I have been taken in by a world class athlete
and personally trained and encouraged by her.

I stood next to my best friend,
her Marine husband overseas,
while she gave birth to her second son.
My children and I were generously and graciously
taken into the home of a woman
we had never met before,
after leaving a shelter
for abused women and children.

I have been held during funerals,
sat next to during weddings,
waited for during surgeries.
I've been cared for,
given to and confided in,
all in the name of Friendship.

And now I have found myself
dancing in a world
filled with melodious wisdom,
laughter,
wholesomeness,
humility and graciousness,
sung by the friends surrounding me.

My friends are the notes
played by instruments of experience,
strung by life-times lived in His light,
sung audibly for love...
love, so freely given
in the precious name of friendship.

My girlfriend is decades my senior,
her life fully encompassed
before I was even born.
Her laughter is melodious,
filling the souls of those
she comes in contact with.

Her voice touches you deeply inside.
Her words hang above heads
and then tightly grasped onto
while stories of experience
fill lunch breaks at Fatburgers in San Clemente.

Tear-filled eyes are consistantly blinked away
when suddenly,
stomaches begin to roll from bellowing laughter
pressing the ocean view windows
of our burger joint.

What will she bring to us today?
Will she touch our lives by the survival path
she has climbed
or fill us with harmonious laughter?

Her stories fill us -- fill me...
With romantic times of long ago,
survival instincts acting with passionate force,
and the giddiness of a young woman's day.
Her Life Stories fill us with
the pain of a daughter, wife,
mother, and grandmother,
all sacredly shared through precious words
filling our hearts and our minds.

Her eyes show the weight of a lifetime
pressed with events heavily carried.
Joyous memories bounce from her lips
touching each one in attendance.
Her regrets fill us with the anxiety
she has agreed to carry,
openly shared for those willing to learn by.
Her joy fills us with thoughts of
her aunt and her mother
discussing the where-abouts of cards! (Haha!!)
How does He choose which people
will come into our lives and touch our souls?
How does He choose which ones
will become so tenderly loved
we'd opt for them to be blood family?

My precious freind, Phyzzl...
Thank you for filling me with your memories,
portions of yourself,
sharing your time with me,
generously giving your love and gentle touch to me.

Thank you for listening to me
when I wanted to give up.
Thank you for treating me with dignity
when I thought I deserved none,
and you only barely knew my name.

Friendship...
What a sacred pact between people
having made the decision
to share in each other's lives.
I love you Phyzzl... I love you so.
